Lamethir is a free Tolkien-language translator. It is designed to need as little of your data as possible — there are no accounts, no cookies, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Nothing. All translation happens entirely in your browser: the dictionaries are downloaded to your device and looked up locally. The words and phrases you type are never transmitted to any server.
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the site is used. Umami is cookieless and collects no personal data — it records aggregate, anonymized information such as page views, referrer, country, browser, and device type. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and cannot identify you. Because of this, no consent banner is required.
We also record anonymous feature-usage events (for example, that a translation was performed between a given pair of languages, or that the dictionary panel was opened). These events contain feature names, language pairs, and word counts — never the text you typed.
Lamethir stores a small amount of data in your browser's local storage, purely so the app works well for you. None of it leaves your device:
You can clear all of it at any time through your browser's site-data settings.
None. Fonts and all other assets are served directly from this site — no requests are made to advertising or tracking networks, and no data is ever sold or shared. The only external service involved is the privacy-focused analytics described above.
If this policy changes, the date above will be updated. Questions or concerns can be raised via the project's feedback channels on the main page.
